Catching Up with Biak Hauzel | Wedding Photographer from Manipur

Earlier, it was not everyday that we stumbled across accomplished people often who followed their passions over 9 to 5 professions and achieved greater heights in the same. But today, the scenario is completely different, as we see more and more people opting out to make off-beat career choices over regular jobs. It is all the more surprising to know that they had no prior intentions, ambitions or whatsoever to take up their current choices and had only landed there by pure accident. We caught up with one such individual from Manipur, Biak Hauzel, who took up wedding photography as his career choice years back and has been creating a rage ever since! Hi Biak! Tell us a little about yourself. I was born and raised in Imphal, Manipur. I finished my high school and then moved on to pursue my BA at the St. Joseph’s College of Arts and Science in Bangalore. To be honest, it’s been only 3 years since I’ve taken up wedding and event photography for a full-time profession and I …

He has made endless pursuance of techniques and education in the field to perfect his art – and continues to do so passionately. Hi Thangminlun! Tell us something about your interest for photography. Wedding Photographers from Nagaland | J&I Studio

The generation that we are today is full of misplaced people –  an engineer who loved painting, a doctor who wanted to write travelling the world, a government servant who was a brilliant singer back in school. No wonder we live in a place where most people are not happy with their jobs : wrong people  – wrong jobs – passionless people. While many of us want a change , only an exceptional few actually go ahead and pursue their passion. Not only are these people truly passionate but also brave – brave enough to have taken on a journey where nothing is certain. In the end these are the fortunate ones who arrive at a place where they are not only happy, but also get the chance to make an impact – and live a much more meaningful life. I caught up with two passionate and super talented individuals – John and Iliangna, co-founders of J&I (Photography) Studio in Dimapur, Nagaland. What made you decide on starting the studio? We were both shooting professionally on our own as …

Wedding | Recap of my wedding day

Often our friends would ask us about how weddings happen in Nagaland. Whether it was mostly about love or arranged marriages. So, we caught up with a friend , Temsumongla  – from across the miles to share her wedding story with us……. How did you meet your husband? I met him about a  year and three months ago, when he came home (Dimapur) on one of his few holidays to India. He has been working abroad for a while and we had never met before until this time. My now mother-in-law somehow pulled it off trying to introduce  the two of us and that is how it all started – very simple and little hassle to say the least. When did you get married? Your wedding theme? Were you nervous? It was the 9th of Dec’ 2015 at 7 in the morning and I was everything but nervous. The ninth of December turned out to be a blessing. The floral vintage themed decoration, the Naga food, the people, the weather…oh boy! I couldn’t have asked for more. …

White Aisle | Wedding and Event Planner from Nagaland

Tell me about it – I’ve had friends who would plan their wedding ever since their senior school days. Everything seem so well planned – from their wedding dress, wedding song, food and for some, even the vows. But when the day really came for them, I’ve had more phone calls and 11th hour – 1 AM conversations with the frantic bride-to-be asking the same question: ‘Can someone help me out in the planning?’ Most of us here come from huge families so planning a wedding do involve a lot opinions, choices and more confusions – so the whole process is often chaotic and painful! I think that’s why God brought in ‘wedding planners’. They don’t just take care of your wedding day to the last detail, but also give you peace of mind and ample time to prep yourself up for the wedding. Win-win! I have a friend who is an event planner, and heads a event management team – called White Aisle. It’s just so satisfying to see her helping out a lot of people plan their …
