Faces | Life of a College Student in Nagaland by Chovoni Lophro

“This photo was taken for a promotional campaign for our college (Model Christian College); I don’t remember the name of the professional photographer but we took about 30+ shots for this photo 😂” “Hi I am 19 years old, and a 3rd semester student of Model Christian College, Nagaland. My major is Political Science as it has always been my favorite subject. My entire education till date is from the same institution; I went to Model Higher Secondary School – from grade A till my 12th. Post that I joined Model Christian College which is a part of the same institution.”  “As a college student, my days are packed – with a set of routines. I have classes every day from 9:40 am to 3:20 pm; I can hardly manage my time to help out my mom in the morning, and in the evening I keep myself busy in books 😊 Most of my free time are spent doing what I love – like reading, gaming (my favourite is Mobile Legends), dancing, sometimes singing and of course spending time with my friends from college” ~Chovoni Lophro

A Visit to the Traditional House in Zhavame Village, Nagaland

There are cold days – broken hopes – and dreams– but hearts – warmed – by kindness . . . . “We are sitting against the backdrop of a traditional house in Zhavame village under Phek district, adorned with wood carvings that signifies that the owner of the house has performed ‘Feast of Merit’ several times. This was considered as the highest social status in the olden days. On occasions, it is also a common sight for village folks to sit around the fire in the frontage of the house and discuss issues.” ~ Rita Krocha

Giant Hydrangeas in Shillong – Scotland of the East

“We wanted a break from work and go on a trip, but we just had 2 days so Shillong was the best bet – since it’s just around 350 Kms from Dimapur, Nagaland. We are having a ball out here! On our way to Cherrapunji, we came across rows of really tall pine trees and massive bushes of hydrangeas (Just look at them!!). It is super refreshing to take a walk after the rains . .the mystical clouds – almost touching the pavements (we could barely see beyond 5 meters), were breathtaking!! Feels like we had enough fun for the next 6 months in these 2 days! 🙂 We even made time for the new Bollywood movie ‘Sultan’ :D”
