Losing Our Hearts to Nagaland’s Very Own John Mayer | Imliakum Aier

“Poise, prose, and passion make a great musician,” goes a famous saying. Nah! We just made that up. But it’s true! Most of our favorite artists today have struck a chord with millions of fans not just for being good singers. Somewhere amidst the bustling, vibrant city of Kohima, Imliakum Aier is strumming a guitar whipping up a new tune for his brainchild, a young band of funky young musicians aptly named The Electric Cool Kid. Alright, it’s been a while since we featured some awesome musicians here. And what a great way to get back on it! Today we bring you the story of Toshimoa Jamir – a young guitarist from Dimapur who has already made a name in the Nagaland music circuit. Jamir’s exceptional musical talent has led him to share the stage with the legendary Neil Zaza at this year’s World Music Day held in Nagaland. Toshimoa started playing guitar at a very young age. Eventually, he passed Grade 8 with merit in Guitar (Rock School, International Rock Music Exam Board London) in 2012 from Taaqademy, Bangalore. He then went on to work as a music teacher in DE SALES Music Academy and ICFC School for two years in Bangalore. Apart from the long list of awards Toshimoa has won, he was recently conferred with the prestigious “Young Achiever’s Award 2016″ in the field …

We are talking about Virie – the talented and sensational singer songwriter from Nagaland. Virie is from Kohima Village, and currently teaching music in a local music school . She started out doing cover songs on youtube, and with the overwhelming positive response from viewers, she released an original Down that road (scroll down for video) along with her two friends (Zaza and Temjen). Below is an excerpt from an interview we did with Virie. So Virie, tell us more about your single ‘Down that Road’. For those who haven’t heard it yet, how would you describe this song? Is it an original composition? Well, the song is about one of life’s many phases that one goes through. It’s about taking a pause – forgetting all grudges and pains, and embracing solitude after you’ve been through hard times; that is when then you get reconnected to your soul and “Down That Road” is about that very moment. Yes it’s …
