Faces | Mizo Ladies Wearing Traditional “Puan” Wraparound Skirt to a Wedding in Aizawl

“This photo was taken before heading off to a friend’s wedding in Aizawl, Mizoram.  We love dressing up for weddings – especially in our traditional attire. Here, we are wearing “Puan”, which is a mizo traditional wrap around skirt – usually handwoven by local weavers. These days, we have a variety of designs and patterns available so it’s exciting to explore the many options available. We usually wear the Puan with a formal top. These tops that we are wearing in this photo were designed and made by my best friend and fashion designer Rini Hlondo (standing left, wearing  a mint green puan). The puan that I’m wearing is by Chawndeng Handloom 😊” ~ Rebecca Lalthanpuii, Founder of Lush contouring, Beauty clinic specialising in microblading and lash extensions.
