#FACES | “Coming Home For a Break to Spend Time With Family in Such Beautiful Setting Means The World to Me” – Flight Attendant Juli Swu from Nagaland

“I’ve been working as a flight attendant for six years now and being away from family to earn myself a daily wage has not been easy. I was on duty last Christmas so it was awful not to be home for the best season of the year. But I was happy enough to be granted some leave during the month of January so I was very excited to pack my bags and leave for my hometown, Nagaland. This picture was taken on the 9th of January at Showuba village, located in Kuhoboto Tehsil of Dimapur district in Nagaland, India. It is situated 20km away from the sub-district headquarter Kuhuboto, and 10km away from district headquarter Dimapur. It was my sister’s engagement day so the entire family had come to celebrate the occasion over an outdoor gathering and food. After a heavy lunch, I took my sisters and cousins out for a walk while the elders sat inside to merrily discuss the upcoming wedding. What a beautiful outing it was. Coming home in itself is such …

“This picture was taken one pleasant afternoon of October last year – on our trek to Dzukou Valley, located at the border of the states of Manipur and Nagaland in North-East India. We were least bothered by the unavailability of electricity and phone networks because of the blissful moments we were enjoying such as bonfire, music, long conversations, etc. We spent two nights completely under the sky light and it was an amazing experience. Hands down! Dzukou Valley is one of the most beautiful place on Earth – so pristine, that you will feel like you are in heaven.” – Antariksha Kumari Antariksha Rajkumari and her friends, trekking to Dzukou Valley – located at the border of the states of Manipur and Nagaland in north-east India. #FACES | Nenia Arche from Manipur Recalls Her Memorable Stay in Haven’s Cove Resort in Syntu Ksiar in Jowai, Meghalaya

“This photo was taken last year in June during a trip to Jowai – which is located about 60 km from Shillong in Meghalaya. We stayed in a lovely resort called ‘Haven’s Cove’ in Syntu Ksiar, which is about 5 km away from the main Jowai town; we took a car to get there, and then had to walk around 20 mins to reach the resort. During that time of the year (June), the weather was so pleasant making our trip even more worthwhile. For the outing that day, we packed some home-cooked lunch (prepared by one of my friend’s mom) which we enjoyed besides the peaceful river. While we were there, we had a wonderful time exploring the scenic surroundings by taking long walks through the narrows paths in the open paddy fields; one of the highlights was walking over the footbridges, which were beautifully made!” “The most memorable part of the trip happened on our way back. While we were walking, it started raining heavily. We had just 2 umbrellas, which was not enough for all …

A Visit To “The Woods” – Cottage by Doyang River, Pangti Village in Nagaland.

So here’s the thing about visiting Nagaland. The whole state is a treasure trove of interesting ways to experience nature in its most glorious forms. The R&L team recently visited Wokha District in Nagaland – home of the Lotha Naga tribe, to attend their post-harvest festival ‘Tokhu Emong’, and also witness the arrival of the migratory bird “Amur Falcon.” While we toured the lovely Wokha District, we got a chance to visit Pangti village, where we had a stopover at the enchanting Doyang river for lunch. That’s where we came across “The Woods” cottage by the river, and had one of the most memorial experiences of the trip. Sitting elegantly by the river bank, “The Woods”, the 2-storey hut gives visitors access to the most peaceful and scenic view of the river Doyang and its surrounding beauty. The good news is, they are open for business, and anyone can come and book a room for just Rs. 300 per night (breakfast and food extra) and enjoy a relaxing time with the unique offerings of the …
