“It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves – in finding themselves.” – Andre Gide
Whether it is the first time you watch a sunset over the ocean or the first time you reach the summit of a mountain, the magical feelings you get when you experience the world in it’s most natural form is often unforgettable…and fills you with happy stories that last a lifetime. So they say travelling does good for the mind and soul. We have Emmy today from Mizoram who travels to disconnect from her daily life – to recharge. “Travel opens up a new world filled with new learnings and inspirations..” Let’s see what she has to share from her many travels!
We had a chat with Thlamuanpuii aka Emmy, dental student from Mizoram who has a deep passion for travel. We reached out to her to find out more about her travelling adventures, some useful travel tips and more.

Introduce a little about yourself!
My name is Thlamuanpuii (23) but I’m better known as “Emmy” since my real name is a little difficult for non-Mizos to pronounce. I am from Mizoram but currently residing at Poanta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh studying dentistry.

What does travelling mean to you and what inspires you to travel?
I travel to explore new places and experience new things. Whenever I needed to take a break from my daily life, I go on travelling to new places to help me recharge myself. So, whichever places I have been to inspires me a lot. It continues to make me feel the urge to explore more and experience new things in life. Besides, I love creating beautiful memories.

How do you afford to travel?
It is my dad who encourages me to travel to grow as a person. He would suggest new places for me to visit and has been sponsoring all my trips so far. I’m happy to have a supportive dad and hopefully, I could start earning very soon and support my own travel expenses without depending on anybody.

Tell us your five top travel essentials.
My top travel essentials would be – Lip balm, Hair ties, Snacks, Hand sanitizer and tissue paper.

Do you have a favorite destination?
I don’t have any favorite destinations as such but certainly mountains and hilly areas attract me better than metropolitan area. Since I grew up from a hilly place, I feel more at home when I visit the mountains.

What is your top bucket list?
I usually don’t maintain a travel list. Sometimes, my trip plans happen all of a sudden even without knowing where the actual destination is. But if I have to say one country that I would love to visit, it will be Japan. And within India, it’s got to be Shimla and Jaipur.

Please leave some travel tips or advice for our readers and for those who are planning to go on trips.
Since it is important to me, I’d mention firstly not to forget to take your lip balm😂 Keep the weather on check and decide the clothes to carry. I’d suggest you to not take too many clothes with you while you travel because this is something I always fail to follow and end up regretting in the end. Look up in the internet for good places to eat or hotels to stay prior to your trips. And always split the fares with the people you are travelling together with, for financial balance. Do not hesitate to talk to the local people when you needed help with directions. Also carry some necessary first aid kits and purchase a souvenir or two for memories. 🙂

Why do you think people should travel?
It is always good for any of us to come out of the comfort zone and try to face couple of challenges in life. Exploring new places, people and culture teaches us a lot and also helps to revive our mind and soul. Most importantly, travelling makes us realize how special our home is.
