Kapraa, a startup run by three inspiring sisters, is one-of-a-kind store. Besides selling its own designs, the store also gives other creative designers a space to sell and showcase their pieces. It’s a one-stop shop if you’re looking for fashion and accessories – all ‘Made in Nagaland’! Today, we’re introducing you to the faces behind Kapraa – Diana, Ayetoli and Elona. We had fun chatting with them about Kapraa – scroll down to read the full conversation.
We had a chat with the lovely sisters of “KAPRAA” – a clothing store based in Kohima, Nagaland to know more about their ventures and more.

We are very excited and happy to have you here. To start with everything, it would be great if you can give us a little introduction.
Kapraa is a small start up, it’s whole purpose is to encourage local entrepreneurs. It all started with the idea of diving into the world of fashionable yet affordable clothing. So while putting together the concept of KAPRAA, we thought why not be an umbrella brand for ‘Made in Nagaland’ labels? Thus our journey embarked from then.

Nothing ever starts without a story! What is the story behind KAPRAA? How did it all start?
We started off with just a few brands, but now we are happy to include not only a few known brands but a number of upcoming ones. Our brands include Liying, PML, Old Cabin, Lakabi, Atsi, Soyachunks, Undergarment Emporum, Aben, Lorenza Runway, Thung Ezung, Butterfly Natu, Li Made, and a natural and organic beauty line Osh Natural. Kapraa also keeps a few hand picked items which we bring in from outside the state.

What inspired you three to start Kapraa?
The inspiration behind opening our shop was to come up with an asset that is not necessarily tangible. Sometimes that requires coming together to share an experience. Something that won’t clog our venture in the long run. Thus came KAPRAA.

Any future goals on expanding the business?
When it comes to thinking about our future, we are indeed planning on expanding the business. We are taking it one step at a time. Slow and steady wins the race and we couldn’t agree with it more!

Who has been your biggest support?
Of course, our family has been our biggest support. Plus the responses we get from our customers, be it Nagaland or outside. It is really encouraging.

Any message to our dear readers?
Nothing in life comes easy. Some might take a day to open a shop, some might take a year. But what will make the difference is persistence. The will to never give up. You will have bad days and good days, that is all a part of the journey.
