We all love a good inspirational story that breaks all stereotype and rightly so! Today, we have Onen Nenty with us. She’s not unknown to the social media world and has a huge fan following. Talk about multi-talented, and she’s one! She’s someone who can really hustle, she is passionate, fun loving and does not shy away to start a conversation with strangers. Above all, she is a daring soul! Meet Onen, who juggles between being a banker and her passion. She’s also a bassist and has had quite an awesome profile in the music scene of Nagaland as well. Two of her priceless possessions would be her bass guitar and her bike. She’s a travel junkie and loves to travel on her bike whenever she gets the time.
We had a lovely chat with Onen Nenty from Nagaland about her passion for travelling with her bike whenever she gets time off from work. She also talks about her love for music and her upcoming travel plans!

Hi, Nenty! It is a pleasure having you with us. Tell us for how long have you been riding?
Well, I’ve been riding motorcycle for 6,7 years now. And oh boy! Do I love it? This has been my passion so I enjoy every moment of it.

Judging by your social media feed, you seem to be traveling a lot! How often do you travel and any memorable rides along the way?
Yes, I love travelling even if it is for a short period of time. It refreshes me and is therapeutic. Since I am working in a bank now, I don’t get the time like I used to. So, I ride during weekends. Few months back, I had the privilege of visiting Ladakh and got to have some of the best bike rides there. I, along with 12 other female riders from India and abroad covered a distance of 2200 kms via Delhi- Chandigarh-Himachal-Leh-Ladakh to the world’s highest motorable road – Khardungla Top which is 18380 ft ASL. It was a surreal experience. The people out there, the climate, the mountains, snow, terrain – everything was magical. It was surely a lifetime experience.

Wow! Sounds awesome! Speaking of that, traveling comes with a lot of interesting and memorable stories. Have you ever encountered anything like that yourself?
Oh yes! Travelling on the bike is like my meditation. I get more alone time to meditate with mother nature. And I’ve had lots of memorable encounters. One thing I’ll always remember is that, once while travelling, I was lost with another co-female rider in one particular mountain and it was completely deserted. But I didn’t let any fear creep in. It was actually a perfect place to meditate. It was the time I encountered an intimate hour with God and rode crying for nearly 2 hours and since then, I am a rider woman of faith.

That is one inspiring story! How do you think your roots and upbringing have inspired you to what you are today?
I think being the youngest in the family, I did get my share of advantages. And I remember, growing up, I often played with boys most of the time. Since a child, I was mostly drawn towards adventurous stuff. So I think that also contributed me to where I am today. Several factors have also changed me as a person today. The drive to do things I wanted only kept growing. I simply followed my passion.

Any trips that you’re planning sooner or later?
Yes, this summer I am collaborating with a travel agency in Ladakh. So, I want to take the opportunity and share the same experience with other riders from the North-east. Mountains are calling, we must go!

What have these travel experiences taught you?
Every travel experience has changed and transformed me into the person I am today. It taught me to look beyond my personal horizons. I have learnt that travel does not have to be expensive and expect the unexpected as you look to find the unknown. A journey to reveal the odyssey!

So what do we get to see next from you?
For now, I am working on my YouTube channel. For starters, I’ll be touring solo in all the districts of Nagaland and then later other states and so forth. So, stay tuned and check out my updates.

Thank you so much, this has been a wonderful chat. We also see that you have a lot of fan followers. Any message you’d like to give them?
I am so humbled and honored to even have fans. I believe that we all are beautifully designed in a unique way and we should make use of this opportunity and fulfill the purpose driven life. I also look forward to motivating women through my escapade to proceed towards their goals and desires following their passion by coming out of their shells.
