  • Hey Chiam, please introduce yourself to our readers!

My name is Chiam Shiu. I am 23-years-old and I’m from Khiamniungan and Phom tribe from Dimapur. Currently based in Mumbai, I’m a full-time YouTuber, a freelance fashion model and an actor. As far as my education is concerned, I am a B.Tech graduate in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Nagaland.

  • What made you start your YouTube channel?

Ever since I was a kid, I always enjoyed watching fashion TV, Hindi serials and would end up enacting them. As I grew older, I realized I’m not focusing on the things that I’m passionate about, rather than doing the conventional thing, which is to be an Engineer. Then I decided to take the leap and do something that I loved and get paid for it as well. That is how YouTube happened!

  • What do wish to achieve with your YouTube channel?

My goal is to create better content and keep my viewers entertained through my weekly YouTube videos. Also inspire more people that no dream is too big. If I can try, you should too! I also like to show our ways of living, our food, our cultures through YouTube.
  • What challenges did you face along the way?

Since I’m from a technical background, it definitely is challenging to choose a different career path especially to my loved ones back home. But I’m proud of this. In the end we only regret the changes we didn’t make. Every challenge I face will be worth it!

  • How have your roots inspired you?

I belong to Khiamniungan tribe, which is one of the backward tribes in Nagaland. Taking the name of my tribe to a platform which is accessible by anyone around the world has been one of my motivations and my pride. Nothing would bring me more joy than to represent my people on this platform.

  • Any message to your fans?

Dream big and always take steps to achieve it. Dreaming and lamenting that we can’t achieve it won’t get us anywhere. Even a small step towards your goal matters a lot and sooner than later we do achieve what we have always craved for.
