With the increasing recognition of makeup as a form of art, it is not a superficial practice – as it was often perceived to be. The fact that makeup provides yet another outlet for artists around the world to showcase their creativity – while at the same time putting a smile on people’s faces is such a heart-warming experience for all. Another beautiful aspect of this art form is how it can bring together people across corners to collaborate – and celebrate together during their most special moments of their lives.
To truly understand what we mean here, we would like to introduce our readers to another talented makeup artist, Edward Shimray from Manipur, who runs a studio by the name “Siro Makeup Studio” in Hyderabad. We were truly amazed by the way this artist from far flung state of Manipur in North East India, has understood the cultural nuances of other parts of the country, and showcases them beautifully through his various Indian bridal makeup – an area he specializes in. Let’s have a chat with Edward to know more about his journey, his passion for makeup, his work and more.

Hi Edward, please introduce yourself.
My name is Edward Shimray, 37 years old and I’m originally from Phungyar Village in Manipur. I am currently based out of Hyderabad, where I run my own makeup studio “Siro Makeup studio by Edward and Zing” (my wife). We launched this studio in the year 2014. Initially it was just 3 artists – including me and my wife; today have grown to a strength of 18 artists. Our aim is to make it a one-of-a-kind makeup studio where we bring together the best of makeup professionals – and provide a host of services from basic hair service to hairstyling, bridal makeup, photoshoots, shows, events and more. We also give master classes occasionally

Leave some advice for our readers who are looking for advice to be able to follow their passions as well.
Just a little suggestion to my younger generation through my experience – have a little patience, try to grab all opportunities while you can, because they may not come back later and always be thankful of people around you who have helped you. Most importantly, always be sincere and humble at your workplace; your job may not be the most interesting one when you start but try to give your best every day. If you work hard and believe in your dreams, God will surely lead you to where you are meant to be.
