Hello, introduce a little about yourself.
My name is Alkis Meiphok, from Shangshak Phunghon village, Ukhrul district, Manipur. I am presently a freelance photographer. I did my photography course at DCOP (Delhi college of photography), North Delhi.

What initially sparked your interest in photography?
I grew up seeing photos. Our family has a tradition of taking a group photo every New Year,ย and it was beautiful to create such memories. This was one reason why I took up photography. I love taking photos of insects, flower, animals and everything that I find attractive.

How has your upbringing influenced your working style and what inspires you to pursue photography?
My dad had an old camera and I was very fond of it. I used to carry it around even without rolls inside it and play with my friends by pretending to click their photo. This makes me realize the importance of capturing moments for it creates priceless memories and I also want to help people remember memories that are dear to them. So, every small things that happens around me inspires me to do bigger things and that is one reason why I started pursuing photography, starting with a small cost camera.

What do you hope to achieve through photography?
After I did my photography course and took a vow to myself to be a photographer, I’ve watched a lot of professional photographer clips on social media like Instagram and YouTube to becomeย one like them. So, I have been working harder and focusing on what I am doing right now, to be successful someday.
