“You don’t take a photograph, you make it” – Ansel Adams
It’s not everyday that you come across someone who takes in every minute detail of the world. But we’ve met Keneisenuo, who views the small things in life we tend to ignore and create something beautiful through her lovely art. And for us to feature someone inspiring in our blog always makes us happy. Take a look as Kenei talks about her work and what inspires her to create such lovely artwork.
We had a chat with the very creative artist and illustrator Keneisenuo from Kohima, Nagaland. She talks about spending all her free time drawing and how the rough experiences she went through inspired her to deliver better works.

Hello Kenei! Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi! I’m Keneisenuo but I’m better known as, Kenei. I am from Kohima, Nagaland and I’m currently working as a Visual artist for a company called Vebbler based out of Bangalore, India. Whenever I get free time, I draw anything that inspires me and also try to finish my commissioned projects.

Introduce us to your work and tell us what got you started?
I usually draw portraits but lately, I’ve been exploring and enjoying working on the darker side of art. I’m also expressing my feelings through my art and I gotta say, I’m loving it!
Initially, I started off with drawing comics inspired by Archies and Tinkle comics when I was around 11 or 12 years of age. It was when I turned 18 that I tried my hand at digital art and I’ve been sticking to it ever since.

What initially sparked your interest in this field?
Art is something that has always been with me ever since I was a child and it was something I grew up with. So, I had always known that I would eventually be doing something in the field of creative art when I grow up.

How has your roots and upbringing influenced your work or working style?
The diversity of the tribes of Nagaland inspired me so much that I ended up doing a series of the tribes of Nagaland. I am also heavily influenced by video games so I have done a couple of video game character series from the game Dota 2 as well. I like to experiment with different art styles and I’m constantly influenced by creative artists on Instagram.

What’s your work philosophy and where do you draw inspirations from?
I honestly feel that anything that is around me inspires me to draw. It could be a warm cup of tea, a book, a song, a life lesson or maybe something even as simple as a bag of chips. I’ve also learnt that the rough experiences you go through in life can also be such a great inspiration for art. Inspiration is anywhere and everywhere, you don’t have to look far.

What do you hope people take away from your Art?
Through my art, I hope people could relate to it and leave them with feelings such as happiness, sadness, excitement or anything that would make them remember my work. I also hope to inspire people to never give up on their dreams.

Tell us about your latest work/project?
The last artwork I’ve done is an experimental piece of a new art style I’m trying to get good at. The piece is accompanied with a quote from one of my favourite author, Edgar Allan Poe.
