  • Hello! Please introduce a little about yourself.

Hello! I’m Wungyophy A Shipo aka Nanao Shipo from Ukhrul, Manipur. I am 31-years-old and currently living in Abu Dhabi, working as a cabin crew for Etihad Airways. “Waking up everyday being grateful that you can still dream higher and follow your heart” defines me.

  • What does travelling mean to you and what inspired you to start travelling?

Travelling is about being spontaneous. A trip is often filled with lots of surprises. It is all about the path you take that will inevitably open doors for spontaneous adventures. Through travelling, we get to learn so many new things and even find the opportunity to discover ourselves. You also find out how resilient and inventive you are, as well as how tolerant you are. It was my love for fun and adventures that inspired me to start travelling.

  • How do you afford to travel?

With all due respect to my job, it has been the cherry on the cake for me to travel around. Also I save on a minimal basis every month for my personal holiday travels.

  • Name five travel essentials in your bag.

Passport, phone, phone charger, sunscreen and sunglasses. The one extra thing that I carry all the time when I travel is king-chilli powder, just in case I travel to destination where the food they serve is not spicy enough haha!

  • Which destinations are your favorites and why?

San Francisco and Japan! San Francisco being the city by the bay, the colorful street arts and murals, the beaches, long drives and mountains compliments everything. The Golden Gate Bridge has a charm that keeps calling me back and yes, hefty shopping!

Japan has its own charm. From high-tech cities to traditional ancient wooden shrine and with the cherry blossom sprinkled on top, there’s nowhere else quite like it. As they say Japan is always 10 years ahead from any part of the world, I believed it only when I visited Japan. They are so organised, well disciplined and they have a very sophisticated culture. Food is another thing that I cannot resist there!

  • Which destination tops your bucket list?

South America has been on my top destination list and I wish to travel there very soon.

  • Please leave some travel tips or advice for our readers who are planning to travel.

Travelling comes along with a lot of planning, so it’s very important to research a place well before your travel. Packing light is also important as it allows for flexibility and makes your trip hassle-free (which I am still in the learning process). All in all, one must learn to invest and sink into the culture of the place you are travelling to and enjoy it.

  • What is your opinion on why should people travel?

Every place teaches you something new. It is so significant to travel if you want to learn and grow in life. Last but not the least, ‘Never say no to travelling’! Go out of your comfort zone and experience this beautiful world that God has created for us to live. Create your own sparkle and adventure in life by taking bold decision when you are travelling and trust me life will never disappoint you.
